How to do a company setup in Business Central?

We have a best practice Company Setup that we use for Abakion Go customers, our Unbox concept and normal deployments with larger projects.

This is what happens in the video

This is a view of some of all the tables that we set up in our standard Company Setup, and as you can see it’s quite a lot, and some of the tables are quite complex.

Let me guide you through some of those so you can see how it works.

So, for instance this is the chart of accounts, which for many is the core of the Business Central solution.

The chart of account is set up so it is usable for both normal trading companies, manufacturing companies, companies with jobs, services etc.

So, it’s a rather best practice chart of accounts, in our opinion.

Likewise, we have set up for instance the inventory posting setup, just to give you some examples, which is also more or less complex and we come up with a combination of location codes and inventory posting group, which means that when you order the new company from us, you will have to answer how many location codes we should set up, so we can create the correct inventory posting setup.

Another example might be the VAT statement, which is also for many rather complex.

Of course we made a best practice VAT statement that works with the chart of accounts, out of the box, and also handles stuff like taxes that you want, or need to report; this is the VAT statement.

Likewise, we have quite many different tables to set up.

Of course, also the general posting setup.

I can show you as the last one, where you combine the general business posting group and the general product posting group, and all the accounts related to that.

So, this is an example of some of the important tables that we have set up.

If we look at the list, I’ve highlighted some of those tables that are more important than others – or more part of the core of Business Central.

So, you might want to control those before starting to actually post in your Business Central solution.
