One of the things that Reverse Planning doesn’t do, that a normal MRP would do, is to cancel orders that there’s no demand for.
With the Reverse Planning functionality, we have created Overstock Item as a nice substitution for that, and let’s see how it works in Business Central.
From the Reverse Planning window or the menu, it’s possible to open the page finding Overstock Items, and I could select a template that I have set up for looking for quantities.
In this template, I would like to look for inventory, my end inventory or lowest inventory where the safety stock quantity times three exceeds the inventory or the reorder quantity times five exceeds the inventory, and I could set up here multiple criterias on all the different planning parameters.
This means when I calculate my Overstock Items and I can set up all the parameters like normally in my request page on the Reverse Planning, it displays all the lines down here where the end inventory exceeds either safety stock times three or reorder quantity times five, and thereby it’s possible for me to find items that might have too high inventory either now or related to the orders coming in.
