How to use the checklist for mapping and migration?
This video is a short intro to the Mapping & Migration Checklist to get an overview of what this Excel sheet does.
This is what happens in the video
It’s made to control the migration process with a specific customer, so we can handle all the tables and the status of the table mappings.
On the first worksheet, the table data status, you can set up or determine which tables to include in the migration process and which not to include.
So, the first thing you do is to make this selection, and you can select here whether the mapping is done or not.
And in other videos, we will go detailed into all the different worksheets here and how to use them.
So, the first worksheet is where you select which tables to include.
The second worksheet, the table upgrade plan, is basically a consequence of the first worksheet where it determines the order in which you need to import tables, You can see that you need to import the contacts and the routing header after you have imported fixed assets, etc.
So this is the order of data to import.
The issue log is where you can enter the status of the errors you need to correct during a later process, and this issue log is just like a status board.
How to use? It’s related to the first worksheet of the table status and we will go through that in a video, what all these different columns means because it’s very important to do the mapping in the correct order and to map the key first etc.
And the last worksheet, that will also have its own video, is an explanation of all the different terms that we use in the migration process.
So, everybody will be aligned on the language that we use when speaking about migrations.
