This is what happens in the video
In Business Central you can create as many companies as you want. One of the most useful things you can do with this is to copy a company before you start posting in it. That gives you a safe way to test your setup before you commit to it.
If you are setting up a new company, you can copy it to a test company, try out your configuration, and verify that everything works before you post your opening balances. This article walks through how to copy and delete a company in Business Central.
Why copy a company in Business Central
When you set up a new company, you often want to confirm that the setup behaves the way you expect before you post anything for real. By copying the company first, you get an identical copy you can experiment in. You can post test transactions, check your openings, and confirm the configuration without touching the company you intend to use live.
How to copy a company in Business Central
Start from the menu and search for Companies. This gives you the list of companies you have added in Business Central.
From the list, select the specific company you want to copy. In the copy process, you choose the new company name you want to give it, for instance a test company. Press OK, and after a while the company is copied and appears on the list.
Once the copy is on the list, you can open it, post in it, and test whatever you like. You can leave it in place for as long as you need it.
How to delete a company in Business Central
When you are done testing, you can delete the company again from the same Companies menu. Go into the company and choose Delete.
There is one important limitation: you cannot delete a company that you are currently in. To delete the test company, you first need to be in another company, for example your live company. From there you can delete the test company you created.
Be careful which company you delete. Deleting a company removes its data, so make sure you only delete companies that you actually want to get rid of, such as a temporary test company.
