The Master Data Information product lets you add an unlimited number of specifications to any product in your catalogue. You create a new information code, define the values it can hold, and assign one of those values to the product. The specification then appears automatically on the website without any extra publishing step.

You control the specifications entirely from the master data setup. If a specification you need does not exist yet, you add it as a new information code, then add the values it can take, and finally select the right value for the specific item.

Adding unlimited specifications with the Master Data Information product

The Master Data Information product handles product specifications, and there is no limit to how many you can attach to a single item. A product like a city bike can already carry a long list of specifications, and you can keep adding more whenever you need them.

Take an item such as a city bike. It might already have plenty of specifications attached, but say you want to add one that isn’t there yet, for example a height.

Creating a new information code and its values

When the specification you want doesn’t exist, you start by adding a new information code. In this case, that code is the height.

Next, you add the information values the code can hold. You define the values yourself, so you can set whatever range or options make sense for the product. If a value isn’t high enough, you simply adjust it or add another one.

Assigning a specification to a product

With the information code and its values in place, you assign them to the item. You choose the height code, then pick one of the values you defined for it. That ties the specification to the specific product.

Specifications appear automatically on the website

Once you have assigned the specification, it becomes available on the website right away. Go back to the city bike on the site, look under the specifications, and the new height value is there. No separate publishing step is needed.
