The Assign Quantity uses an engine that creates a full Inventory Profile for each item

When you use Assign Quantity, it builds upon an engine that is used also for graphical inventory profile and other apps.

And basically it draws the inventory profile to calculate how many it’s possible to ship.

So, if for this example, I change the assigned quantity on this item line here to six, and I have another item line here with a thousand, it would now be possible to assign a specific quantity.

And what it actually does is looking at the shipment dates on all the lines.

The last line here is on March 4, as you can see here.

And then the engine will draw an inventory profile when you select the assigned quantity function here.

I’m not doing it yet.

It actually draws an inventory profile in the background as an understanding.

So, if you look at the full inventory profile right now with the same check mark as of course, as you set up in the assigned quantity calculation for this item, we can see the inventory profile here.

And we can see how many do we have on inventory.

And there’s a lot of demands, which is not covered because here is a lot of minus as you can see.

So, we do have a lot of backlogs here.

But if you look at the quantity we have assigned, and I just changed 16 to six.

So, if I’m looking at the inventory profile, the calculation and includes the only the assigned quantity, not the full quantity, I can see here that the lowest inventory right now will be 10.

So, from an assigning perspective, we will have 10 available.

That means if I reassign or create a new sales order line on item 1000 on location basic, it will be able to assign 10 if it’s within the possible dates.

So, if I select Assign Quantity on the last line now, it will assign 10 because that was the possible stuff.

So, therefore it only calculates mathematically what is possible and therefore also create the best solution for the customers.
