If you want to use Assigned Quantity in Business Central, you first download it from AppSource. When you reopen Business Central, a message appears in the header on the role center asking you to activate Assigned Quantity. You click the activation button, enter your email address, and click next. Business Central then creates the base setup for you automatically.

After activation, you run the initial batch job. This batch job assigns all your existing sales orders or demand orders so the functionality starts working with your current data.

The email address you enter during activation lets the provider communicate with you. It is part of the activation step and not optional if you want the standard process.

Downloading and activating Assigned Quantity in Business Central

The setup of Assigned Quantity is straightforward. You start by downloading the signed app from AppSource. Once it is installed and you reopen Business Central, you get a notification in the header on the role center. The message tells you that you need to activate Assigned Quantity before you can use it.

When you click the activation button, you are prompted for your email address. This is how the provider can reach you. Enter your email and click next. Business Central then performs the setup and creates the base configuration for Assigned Quantity. At that point the app is activated and ready to use.

Running the initial batch job

Activation handles the base setup, but there is one more step before everything is in place. You run the initial batch job.
