The graphical inventory profile in your Microsoft business solution lets you filter inventory, demand, and supply by dimension. If you use dimension values such as project or department on your sales lines, you can see a separate inventory profile for each dimension value.

You can choose to view the graphical profile without any dimension filter, or you can include one or more dimension values to narrow the view. This makes it possible to plan per dimension or run campaigns per dimension.

Filtering the graphical inventory profile by dimension

When you work as a salesperson, the graphical inventory profile gives you a visual overview of your inventory situation. If you use dimension values on your sales lines, for example a project dimension or a department dimension, you can filter that profile per dimension.

This means you can plan per dimension or use a campaign per dimension. The graphical profile reads the dimension code directly, so the view reflects exactly the dimension values you select.

Viewing with and without dimension filters

You have two options when you open the graphical profile.

  • View the profile without any dimension filter, which shows the full picture across all dimension values.
  • View the profile including specific dimension values, which limits the data to the dimensions you choose.

In a typical scenario, the project code is dimension code one. If you open the first view without a project code, you see the graphical profile with no dimension filters applied.

Applying a dimension filter to inventory, demand, and supply

When you add a dimension filter, for example a project filter on dimension code one, and then add the matching dimension value, the profile updates accordingly. You can see all your inventory, your demand, and your supply with that dimension filter applied.

You are not limited to a single dimension. You can filter on one or several dimensions at the same time when viewing the graphical profile, which gives you a focused overview tailored to how you plan your business.
