The Job Mobile functionality in Business Central lets you register time and other job data through a guided, flow-based process. Instead of navigating the full Business Central interface, you work through a series of simple pop-up pages that walk you through each step.

You can register time on a job by selecting the job, the job task number, adding a description and the quantity in hours. The registration ends up either in a job journal or a timesheet, depending on your setup.

Because the process guides the user step by step, it makes it much easier to register data correctly in Business Central.

How the Job Mobile time registration works

The core idea behind the Job Mobile functionality is that it gathers data in a flow-based way. Rather than presenting you with a complex screen full of options, it leads you through the registration one step at a time.

The simplest thing you can do is register time. When you start the registration, a standard Business Central pop-up page opens. From there you:

  • Select which job you want to register time on
  • Select the job task number
  • Enter a description
  • Add the quantity in hours, or whatever unit your setup uses

Once you have entered the details, the system inserts your journal line. It then asks whether you want to register on the next job number, and you can simply say no if you are done.

Journal or timesheet depending on your setup

The functionality can insert the registration into either a job journal or a timesheet, depending on how your installation is configured. If you look in the job journal afterwards, you will see the line that was created from the registration, complete with the description you entered.

Why the flow-based approach helps users

Because the user is guided through the process, it is very easy to do the right thing in Business Central. The flow-based structure removes much of the guesswork and reduces the risk of registering data incorrectly, which is particularly valuable for users who are out on a job and need a quick, reliable way to capture their time.
