The Job time mobile can also be used for material registrations for job.

The Job Time Mobile app handles material registration for jobs, not just time. You can register consumption directly from your phone while you work, and the app supports two different flows depending on how your warehouse is set up.

You set up the flow per location. If you use a basic location, like a technician’s car, you get a simple registration flow. If you use bin codes and full warehouse functionality, the app supports an advanced flow that handles bin-level picking.

Material registrations from the app create job journal lines, and the app can also create timesheet lines. This means both your time and your material consumption land in the job journal ready for processing.

Registering material from a basic location

For most users, registering from a basic location is the normal approach. The flow is straightforward:

  • Choose to register material and find the job you want to register on, for instance “the new office downtown”.
  • Select the job task number you want to register material against.
  • Select the item number you are going to use.
  • The location code can be your car if you are a technician driving around.
  • Enter the quantity, and add a description if you want. The description can simply be the item description.

After that you are back at the start, ready to enter another item number. You can keep looping through items until you are done.

Registering material from an advanced location with bin codes

If you are working from somewhere other than a car or basic location, the app supports full warehouse functionality, including bin codes. The flow has one extra step:

  • Select a job number, for example a case management job.
  • Select the job task number you want to take the material from.
  • State the item number you are picking.
  • Enter the quantity, for example three pieces.
  • Enter the bin code you are working from.
  • Add a description, which can simply be the item number again.

This flow handles material that lives in a specific bin in a distribution location, so the registration stays accurate at bin level.

How registrations appear in the job journal

Every material registration from the app feeds into the job journal. If you register one item from a basic location and one item from a distribution location on a specific bin code, you end up with two items in the job journal: one on the basic location and one with the bin code attached.

It is a simple flow for registering both time and material on a specific job, straight from the phone.

Q&A

Can the Job Time Mobile app register material as well as time?

Yes. The app handles both time and material registration for jobs. Material registrations create job journal lines, and the app can also create timesheet lines.

What is the difference between the basic and advanced registration flows?

The basic flow is for simple locations like a technician’s car. You select job, job task, item, quantity and description. The advanced flow adds bin code support and full warehouse functionality, so you also enter the bin code you are picking from.

How do you choose which flow to use?

You set it up per location. If a location uses bin codes, you get the advanced flow. For a basic location without bin codes, you get the simple flow.

Where do the material registrations end up?

They land in the job journal as job journal lines. Each registration carries its location, and registrations from a distribution location also carry the specific bin code.
