With the sales container handling app, it’s possible to calculate freights and fee and we have explained in other videos how that is setup. a So after entering sales order line, it’s possible to calculate freight and fee and you can set up for calculating one of them, both of them, or the other of course and in this scenario, as you can see, the freight, it’s been sitting here as a finance account freight charges, custom and insurance, and you can see one of them being 4500, the other one 1049, and it’s depending on the currency, of course, and the setup.

The sales container handling app lets you calculate freight and fees directly on your sales orders. You set up the calculation to handle freight only, fees only, or both. The app posts the calculated amounts to finance accounts such as freight charges, customs, and insurance.

The freight calculation depends on the quantity on the sales order. When you increase the quantity, the freight amount increases accordingly. The fee amount stays the same regardless of quantity. The amounts also depend on the currency and the setup you have configured.

Calculating freight and fees on sales order lines

Once you have entered a sales order line, the app calculates freight and fee based on your setup. You decide whether the calculation covers freight, fee, or both. The calculated values are posted to the relevant finance accounts, for example freight charges, customs, and insurance.

In a typical scenario the freight charge might be 4,500 and another charge 1,049, depending on the currency and the configuration you have in place.

How quantity affects the freight calculation

The freight setup is tied to the quantity on the sales order. If you change the quantity to a higher number, the freight amount increases to match. For example, raising the quantity moves the freight from around 4,000 up to 6,000.

The fee behaves differently. It remains unchanged when you adjust the quantity. The fee descriptions follow the description set on the relevant GL account.

Setting up the freight and fee calculation

The setup determines which charges are calculated and how they are posted. You can configure the app to calculate freight, fees, or both, and link each charge to a specific finance account. The currency and the quantity-based rules you define control the final amounts on the order.
