Container specific information is stored on the Container Card

The container card is the central element in the sales container handling functionality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Each container, tied to a shipment, has its own card holding key information such as the running number, the container description, and calculated values like measurements and total value.

You can work with containers in two ways. The card view gives you the full overview of a single container. The list view shows the same core information for multiple containers and lets you create new containers and edit basic details directly without opening each card.

The container card and its content

The container card is the backbone of the sales container handling functionality. There is one card for each container and each shipment, so every container you handle has its own dedicated record.

The card holds straightforward information in the header, including the running number and the description for the container, along with other details that identify it. Further down, you get calculated information such as measurements and value, plus details related to shipping the container. In short, the card bundles all the information for a specific container into one place so you have a clear overview.

Editing containers directly in the list view

The card itself sits on the card tab, but you also have a list tab. The list view shows much of the same information in an overview form, and you can edit it directly from there.

This makes the list view practical for everyday work. You can create new containers, change the basic information, and handle other adjustments without opening each container card one by one.
