After installing the sales container handling app from app store, you’re basically ready to go without doing any setup.
The Sales Container Handling app from AppSource works straight out of the box. After installing it, you can start creating containers without any setup. If you want to use freight and fees or automatic weight and volume calculation, there are two small things to configure first.
You do not need to set up freight and fees to use containers. You only configure it if you want to charge customers for freight and fees.
You enable automatic weight and volume calculation by entering dimensions and weight on the item unit of measure table for each item.
Getting started with the Sales Container Handling app
Once you have installed the Sales Container Handling app from AppSource, you are basically ready to go without doing any setup. You can go straight into the outbound container list, where you define the sales containers you want to work with.
In this list, click New and start creating a new container card. It uses the number series you have defined, and from there you are ready to start using the container.
Setting up freight and fees on sales containers
If you want to charge your customers for freight and fees, you need to set that up. Search for sales freight and fees, then special fees, and configure the charges from there. This is optional, so you only do it if freight and fees are relevant to your setup.
Setting up automatic weight and volume calculation
To use the functionality for weight and volume calculation, you enter the relevant data on the item unit of measure table. For each item you want to calculate, open the item card and go to the item unit of measure table.
On the unit of measure, you can define width, length in cubics and net weight. We have also added gross weight for the unit of measure. For each unit of measure, you should define this information if you want it calculated automatically on your sales container.
Those are basically the only two things to set up. The app handles the rest by default.
