Printing a shipping note from a sales order in Business Central can be done in two ways. You can print it directly when you post the sales order by using the Post and Send option. You can also print it afterwards from the posted sales shipment.

Every time you post a shipment, Business Central creates a posted sales shipment. This record reflects exactly the quantity you shipped at that posting, even if the sales order still shows a different total quantity.

From the posted sales shipment, you can print the shipping note to screen or to PDF and include it in the package you send.

Printing the shipping note directly when posting

The most common approach is to print the shipping note at the moment you post the sales order. On a specific sales order, you enter a quantity to ship, and when you post, you select Post and Send.

This does several things at once. It posts the sales order, creates a posted sales shipment, and generates a PDF file you can use for shipping.

Printing the shipping note later from the posted sales shipment

If you post the sales order without printing the shipping note, you can still get it later. Every time you post a sales order, Business Central creates a posted sales shipment, and you can always find it again.

Open the most recent posted shipment to see exactly what was posted on that specific posting. Even when the sales order shows a different total quantity, each posting creates its own posted shipment that reflects the quantity shipped at that moment.

From the posted shipment, you can print the shipping note directly to screen or to PDF and include it in the package you send.
