If you need to attach documents, files, pictures, or user guides to your outgoing documents in Business Central, you can do it with three apps working together: Master Data Information, Master Data on Documents, and Document Handling.

Master Data Information lets you attach files to your master data, such as items, vendors, and customers. Master Data on Documents transfers those files from the master data to the relevant documents. Document Handling then attaches the files to the email when you send the document.

Attaching files to master data with the Master Data Information app

A common requirement is that customers want documents, files, pictures, or user guides placed on an item, a customer, or a vendor, and then attached to outgoing documents when those documents are sent by email.

The Master Data Information app makes this possible. It enables you to attach these files directly to your master data, so the relevant material is stored where it belongs, on the item, vendor, or customer.

Transferring files from master data to documents

Once the files are in place on the master data, the Master Data on Documents app handles the next step. It transfers the files from the master data, such as items, vendors, and customers, over to the documents.

Sending the files by email with Document Handling

When the files have been transferred to the documents, Document Handling takes over. It attaches these files to your outgoing documents and sends them along with your email, so the customer receives everything in one go.
