If you work exclusively with purchasing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the standard Purchaser role center may feel incomplete. The standard role center for purchasers is not fully developed for a workflow that focuses only on purchasing tasks.

You can switch to a dedicated Purchase Order Management role center that is built specifically for purchasing work. Go to My Settings, choose the role center, and select the Purchase Order Management role center code.

The Purchase Order Management role center gives you the purchasing tools you need on one screen. You still have access to every department in Business Central from this role center, so you can explore the rest of the system without missing anything.

The standard Purchaser role center in Business Central

Business Central ships with a standard role center for purchasers. If your job is purchasing and nothing else, that standard role center can feel unfinished. It does not give you a focused overview of everything a dedicated purchaser needs day to day.

The Purchase Order Management role center

To fill the gap, a dedicated Purchase Order Management role center is available. It is tailor-made for purchasing and shows the things a purchaser works with regularly, so you get a relevant overview as soon as you log in.

How to switch to the Purchase Order Management role center

Switching role center takes just a few steps:

  • Open My Settings.
  • Choose the role center.
  • Select the role center code Purchase Order Management.

After you save, your home screen reflects the purchasing-focused layout.

Access to all departments from the role center

Like every other role center in Business Central, the Purchase Order Management role center does not lock you out of the rest of the system. You can still navigate to all departments and explore everything, so changing role center never means losing access to other functionality.
