How to change the Role Center

Role Centers in Business Central give you a start page tailored to your job function. When you log on, you see the information that matters for your role. You can change which Role Center you use whenever you need to, and the change sticks until you switch back.

You change your Role Center in My Settings, which you find under the Setup menu. Open the Assist Edit on the Role Center field to see a list of all the Role Centers available to you. The Role Centers you can choose depend on your permissions, so you may have access to fewer options than another user.

To switch, pick a different Role Center from the list and click OK. For example, you can move from the Sales Order Processor Role Center to the Purchasing Agent Role Center, which is set up for a purchaser. The page refreshes and shows the new Role Center right away.

Changing your Role Center in Business Central

A Role Center is the page you land on when you open Business Central. It collects the lists, actions, and key figures relevant to a specific job function, so a sales order processor sees different content than a purchaser.

Here is how you change it:

• Open My Settings from the Setup menu.
• Click the Assist Edit on the Role Center field.
• Choose the Role Center you want from the list, for example Purchasing Agent instead of Sales Order Processor.
• Click OK.

The page refreshes and you see the new Role Center. The next time you log in, you keep using it. To go back to your original Role Center, follow the same steps and select it again.

Permissions affect which Role Centers you can choose

The list of available Role Centers is not the same for everyone. It depends on the permissions assigned to your user. If you do not see a Role Center you expect, you may not have permission to use it.
