How to find reports, pages, task or actions in Business Central?

The search functionality in Business Central is a powerful tool.

This is what happens in the video

You can find it either by clicking the search icon, or you can use the shortcut key: Alt-Q The search functionality is called “Tell Me”, like: tell me what you want to do.

Ie. if you want to find item.

I can see the entire list of 30 pages and tasks that has to do with items.

The search doesn’t just look at pages.

It can also search in reports and actions.

Let me demonstrate this on the Item Card.

On this page, I would like to find Unit of Measure.

I could look through all actions in the menu, but I can also search for it.

What this search gives me is first a link to the Item Card.

If I press this, I will go into the Unit of Measure relevant for this item.

But I can also go to the page of Unit of Measure, and set up a Unit of Measure used across all items.

With the “Tell Me” functionality, I can search on the current page in actions, and not just on pages.

This makes it a very nice tool to use.
