Business Central lets you look up values on any field that shows a drop-down arrow. You can pick a value directly from the short list, open the full list from where the values are defined, or open the underlying card if you need more detail before making your choice. This guide shows you how to use each of these options on a sales order.
Looking up values on fields with a drop-down arrow
Any field in Business Central that has an arrow pointing down can be looked up. When you click the arrow, you see a short list of available values. For many fields, like the Currency Code, this short list is enough to find what you need.
Opening the full list with Select from full list
If you want to see the complete list as it appears where the values are defined, click Select from full list. This shows you the same view you would get if you opened the list directly, for example the full Currency Code list. It gives you the complete overview rather than the shortened version shown in the drop-down.
Opening the card with View when you need more detail
Sometimes the information you need to make your choice is not shown in the list view. In that case, click View to open the card for the record. The card gives you the full set of details, so you can confirm you are selecting the right value.
Returning to your sales order
When you are done looking up the value, you can get back to your sales order in two ways. Either click the back arrow, or press Escape on your keyboard. Both take you straight back to where you started.
