This is what happens in the video

Business Central hides a lot of data from you in its standard table views. Many fields are system data that wouldn’t make sense to show users, so the standard pages only display part of what the table actually contains. If you need to see everything in a table, you can open it as a read-only view by adding the table number to the URL.

This replaces the old Zoom functionality from the classic client. The trick works in any Business Central environment. The only thing you need to know is the table number.

How to open a complete table in Business Central using the URL

The syntax is simple. Take your current Business Central URL and add the following to it:

?table=14

The number after table= is the table you want to open. For example, the Location table is number 14. So you add ?table=14 to the URL, press enter, and Business Central opens the complete Location table for you.

This shows you all the information on the Location table, including the fields you can’t see on the Location card. The same approach works for any table. If you want to see the Item table, you enter its table number in the URL the same way.

What you can do with the read-only table view

Once the table opens, you can maximize the screen and see all the columns and all the data. You can scroll to the right and see all the system fields as well. You can also copy the data and use it elsewhere. The view is read-only, so you’re just looking at the data, not editing it.

The main challenge is knowing the table numbers

The catch with this method is that you have to know the specific table number for the table you want to open. There’s no lookup in the URL itself. You need to know that Location is 14, and you need to know the number for the Item table, and so on. Once you know the number, you can see all the data of any table in Business Central.

Q&A

How do I see all the data in a Business Central table, including hidden fields?

Add the table number to your Business Central URL using the syntax ?table=[number]. For example, ?table=14 opens the complete Location table as a read-only view, showing all columns and system fields that aren’t visible on the standard page.

What replaced the Zoom functionality from the classic Business Central client?

You now open the complete table by adding the table number to the URL instead of using Zoom. This gives you a read-only view of all the data in the table.

Why don’t I see all the fields in a Business Central table view?

Standard Business Central pages only show part of the data because many fields are system data that wouldn’t make sense for users. The full table contains more, including system fields, which you can reach through the URL method.

What do I need to know to open a table directly via the URL?

You need the specific table number. For example, the Location table is number 14. The URL method only works if you know the number for the table you want to open.

Can I edit data in the URL table view?

No. The view is read-only. You can see and copy all the data, including system fields, but you can’t change it from this view.
