This is what happens in the video

When a list in Business Central grows long, the Search function helps you find the right record fast. You activate it from the Action Bar or with the shortcut key F3.

The search is a smart search. You only need to type part of a word, and it finds matches anywhere in the text. Type “helmet” and it locates a bike helmet even when “helmet” is the second word in the description.

The search runs across all columns. If you type “50”, it shows every item with the number 50 in any of its columns.

Searching in long lists in Business Central

When a list becomes very long, it can be useful to search within it instead of scrolling. You find the Search in the Action Bar, and you can also activate it by pressing the shortcut key F3.

How the smart search matches your text

This is a smart search, so you do not have to type the full word. You can type just part of it. For example, if you want to find a bike helmet in your list, you can type “helmet”. The search finds it even though “helmet” is the second word in the description.

Searching across all columns

The search goes across all columns, not just the description. If you type “50”, it shows you all items that have the number 50 in one of the columns. This makes it quick and useful to find information in long lists.
