Presenter: Dennis Schumacher, Sr. Business Central Cons.

When you set up master data synchronization in Business Central, the final step is to add subscribers to your data templates. Until you do this, your data templates exist but no data flows to the partners that should receive it.

You can add subscribers one at a time using the subscriber partner ID filter, or you can assign several subscribers to a single data template at once using the Assign Subscribers function.

After you add subscribers, the data template is ready to be synchronized. You can either transfer the record data directly or let the standard synchronization job handle it.

The Role Center counters update to reflect the change. If you add two subscribers to one data template, the data template subscribers count increases by two.

Adding subscribers to a data template

Once you have created your data template, the next task is to connect it to the partners that should receive the data. In this example, there are two active partners, but none of the data templates have any subscribers assigned yet. You can see this on the relevant tile in the Role Center.

To get started, open the data templates and select the data template for items. From there, go to Setup and then choose Subscribers.

Adding one subscriber at a time

You can add subscribers individually. Stand in the subscriber partner ID field, use the filter, and type in the name of the subscriber, for example Subscriber 1. The subscriber is then added to the data template.

Adding several subscribers at once

If you want more than one partner to receive the data, you can assign several subscribers to the same data template in one go. Delete the single subscriber you added, then press Assign Subscribers. Mark and choose the subscribers you have already created in the database, and they are all added to the template together.

Synchronizing the data

With the subscribers in place, the data template is ready to be synchronized. You have two options. You can transfer the record data directly, or you can use the standard synchronization job to handle it for you.

When you return to the Role Center, the counter for data template subscribers reflects the change. After adding two subscribers to one data template, the count increases by two.
