Presenter: Dennis Schumacher, Sr. Business Central Cons.

If you have tested Global Master Data Sync in a sandbox and want to move your configuration into a live environment, you do this by importing the templates you exported from the sandbox. You import the template package through the Global Master Template Package page in Business Central.

The process is: go to Setup, open the Global Master Template Package, use Actions, Packages, Import Package, and select your exported file. Once imported, the templates appear in the journal where you apply each one.

After you apply the templates, they wait for approval. Once approved and released, they synchronize into your live environment.

Moving Global Master Data Sync templates from sandbox to live

Importing the template package in Business Central

Start by clicking Setup and opening Global Master Template Package.

From there, go to Actions, then Packages, and choose Import Package. When you click OK, you get a prompt asking where your file is located. Mark the file and press Open.

All your templates now appear in the journal, ready for you to work with.

Applying the templates to the system

Once the templates are in the journal, you apply each one. Mark all the lines and apply the selected packages into the system. When this is done, all templates are applied.

Approval, release and synchronization

After the templates are applied, they sit waiting for approval. Once you approve them, they are ready to be released. After release, the templates synchronize into your live environment.
