This is what happens in the video

If you run intercompany sales between two companies in Business Central, you can update a sales order after it has been sent to the supply company. As long as the supply company has not started shipping the order, you can change the quantity and the order updates automatically in the supply company.

To make the change, reopen the sales order in the selling company, adjust the quantity, and release it again. The intercompany order in the supply company updates with the new quantity without any manual work.

Changing the quantity on an intercompany sales order

Imagine you have sent a sales order to your supply company. A customer then calls and asks for two City bikes instead of just one. You need to update the quantity, and you want that change to flow through to the supply company.

The process is straightforward. You reopen the order, change the quantity, and release it again. Once released, the order updates in the supply company as well.

This works as long as the supply company has not started shipping the original order. If shipping is already underway, the automatic update no longer applies.

Verifying the update in the supply company

After releasing the order again, you can check the result in the supply company. Find the matching order. The order numbers line up, so the one ending in 10 in the selling company corresponds to the same order in the supply company.

When you open it, the quantity now reads two, matching the change you made in the selling company. The update happens automatically, so there is no need to edit the order twice.
