This is what happens in the video

When you sell items with variants across two companies, you can now see the projected inventory per variant before you commit to a delivery date. This means you can check exactly how many red items are available in your supply company before you confirm the order to the customer.

The Item Availability by intercompany/”>Intercompany view shows projected inventory broken down by variant and location. You pick the specific variant directly from that view, and it is added to your sales order line.

When you release the sales order in your sales company, the variant information is carried over to the order that is automatically created in your supply company. You do not have to re-enter the variant manually.

Creating an intercompany sales order with item variants

The starting point is a standard sales order in your sales company. You create a new sales order, choose the customer, and set the requested delivery date. Then you add the item that has variants defined on it and enter the quantity you want to sell.

You can type the variant directly on the line if you already know what you need. In most cases it makes more sense to check availability first before you commit to a specific variant.

Checking projected inventory by variant in the supply company

Instead of guessing what is in stock, you open Item Availability by Intercompany. This shows what is available in your supply company, and it now includes the projected inventory broken down by variant.

In the example, the item is available in different colors and locations. You can see, for instance, the variant with color red at the location Basic, along with the projected inventory for that variant. You pick the variant you want directly from this view and click OK.

The selected variant is then placed on the sales order line. There is no need to look it up separately or type it in by hand.

Releasing the order and transferring the variant to the supply company

Once the variant is on the line, you release the sales order in your sales company. This triggers the intercompany flow that creates the matching sales order in your supply company.

When you go to the supply company and open the sales order that was created there, you can see that the variant has been carried over. The variant you chose in the sales company appears on the order line in the supply company, so both sides are aligned without extra manual work.
