This is what happens in the video

If you work with intercompany transactions in Business Central and find yourself posting the same intercompany journal line every single time something lands in the journal, you can let Business Central handle that posting for you. On the intercompany partner card you can set up the journal lines to post automatically when the intercompany inbox transactions are created. This removes a repetitive manual step from your daily routine.

The setup lives on the intercompany partner card under the sales transaction section. You define the intercompany journal template and the batch name, and these two fields are required if you want the posting to run automatically. Once they are in place, you enable the field called Post IC Journal Lines. With that checkmark set, the lines post as soon as they are accepted from the inbox.

Setting up automatic posting of intercompany journal lines

Start by opening the intercompany partner you want to configure. In this example we are in the supply company, working on the IC partner that represents the sales company. Open the sales transaction section on the partner card.

Here you specify how the intercompany journal should behave:

  • Intercompany journal template – select the template the lines should use.
  • Batch name – set the batch the lines should land in.
  • Post IC Journal Lines – enable this field to turn on automatic posting.

The journal template and batch name must both be filled in for automatic posting to work. If you leave them blank, Business Central has nowhere to put the lines and the automation will not run.

What happens when you accept transactions from the inbox

With Post IC Journal Lines enabled, the journal lines no longer wait for you to post them manually. When you accept an intercompany transaction from the inbox, the line is posted right away. The journal template and batch name you defined determine where the line is created and how it is posted.

This is a small setting, but it saves a step you would otherwise repeat for every transaction. If your routine is to accept an intercompany transaction and immediately post it without changes, this automation matches exactly what you were doing by hand.
