In Mobile Flow you can require users to enter a password every time they register, so they cannot accidentally log time or information on another user’s account. You enable this with the Password mandatory checkmark in the Mobile Flow user setup.

The password is stored as a PIN code on the resource. You set it either directly on the Resource Card or through an action if you don’t have access to open the card.

You don’t have to type the password manually. You can give each user a plastic card with a barcode that they scan to log in, which makes sure they always register on the correct resource.

Requiring a password for Mobile Flow registrations

If you want to make sure that users register their time and information on the correct account, you can require a password each time they do a registration. This prevents one user from logging information on another user’s account.

To turn this on, go to the Mobile Flow user setup and tick the Password mandatory checkmark. Once this is enabled, the Mobile Flow functionality asks for the password every time the user opens it, and the user logs in with that password before registering.

Setting up the password as a PIN code

The password is set up as a PIN code on the resource. You have two ways to do this:

  • If you have access to open the Resource Card, you can add the PIN code directly there. This is the standard resource card with a PIN code field added for the password.
  • If you don’t have access to the Resource Card, you can change the password from an action instead.

Using barcodes to log in

Users don’t have to type the password by hand. You can hand out a plastic card with a barcode printed on it, or use whatever the end users already carry, and let them scan their own password. This makes login quick and makes sure each person registers on the correct resource.

Q&A

How do I require a password for Mobile Flow registrations?

Go to the Mobile Flow user setup and tick the Password mandatory checkmark. After that, Mobile Flow asks for the password every time the user opens it.

Where do I set the password for a user?

The password is a PIN code on the resource. You add it on the Resource Card if you have access to it, or you set it through an action if you don’t.

Do users have to type the password manually?

No. You can give users a plastic card with a barcode, and they scan it to log in instead of typing the password.

Why should I require a password in Mobile Flow?

It makes sure users register on their own account and on the correct resource, so one user cannot log information on another user’s account.
