If you run transfer orders in Business Central and use inventory picks, you can handle the picking and posting from a single guided flow. The Inventory Pick for Transfer Orders functionality lets warehouse staff pick items by scanning or confirming bin codes, then post the shipment in one go.

You start by releasing the transfer order and creating an inventory pick, both standard Business Central functionality. The flow then steps through each item line, asking you to confirm the bin code and quantity before you post the transfer shipment.

You can adjust quantities during the pick if the picked amount differs from what was planned.

What the Inventory Pick for Transfer Orders flow does

The Inventory Pick for Transfer Orders flow applies specifically to transfer orders. It picks up the inventory picks you have created on those transfer orders and guides you through the outbound process, which moves goods from one location to another.

Because this is a pick, you are working with the outbound side: the goods are leaving the source location to be transferred.

Preparing the transfer order and creating the inventory pick

The setup uses standard Business Central functionality. You release the transfer order, then create an inventory pick for it. That creates the pick activity tied to the transfer order.

Once the pick activity is in place, the warehouse staff get a heads up and can go and pick the goods for that transfer order.

Running the pick from the warehouse

To start picking, the warehouse worker uses the Inventory Pick for Transfer Orders action. You enter the transfer order number, or you can enter the item number in the next window.

The flow then starts a loop and steps through each item that needs picking. For example, it asks you to pick item 10.12 from bin code 16.02. You confirm the bin code and the quantity. You can pick a smaller quantity than planned if needed.

It then moves on to the next item line, in this example from bin code 16.09, and asks you to confirm again. You can change the bin code and the quantities along the way if the actual pick differs from the plan.

Posting the transfer shipment

When you have confirmed all the lines, you post the activity. The flow finds the transfer order, posts it, and registers the transfer shipment. In the example, three and five units were shipped, completing the posted transfer shipment.
