Creating and posting an assembly order in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a straightforward process. This guide walks you through each step, from finding the assembly order page to posting the finished order.
To create an assembly order, search for “assembly order” and open the page. Enter an item number for the item you want to produce, set the quantity, and fill in the due date. Under the posting tab, set the location code to your warehouse, then post the order through the Posting menu.
Creating a new assembly order in Business Central
Start by searching for “assembly order” and clicking on the page to open it. Choose New to create a fresh order. Tab down to give your assembly order a number.
In the Item No. field, choose the item that you want to produce. In the Quantity field, enter how many items you want to produce. In this example, we choose 2. Then fill in the due date so the order has a clear deadline.
Setting the location code before posting
Go to the posting tab and find the Location Code field. Here we choose the basic warehouse location.
When you set the location code, Business Central asks whether you want to update the location code on the lines. Choose Yes so the lines match the header location.
Posting the assembly order
Once the location code is in place, you are ready to post the order. Open the Posting menu and choose Post. Business Central asks whether you want to post the order. Confirm with Yes, and the assembly order is posted.
