Picking from an assembly order in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central lets you handle partial quantities. You do not have to assemble the full order at once. You can pick a smaller amount and post it, and the remaining quantity stays open on the order.
This walkthrough shows how to pick two units from an assembly order of ten and post the partial pick. After posting, the order shows eight units remaining.
Finding the assembly order to pick from
Start by searching for the assembly order you want to work with. Open it so you can see the lines and quantities.
In this example, the total quantity for the assembly order is 10.
Picking a partial quantity
You do not have to pick the full quantity in one go. Here we only want to pick two units, so we enter a quantity of 2 instead of the full 10.
This is useful when you want to assemble and ship in smaller batches, or when you only have part of the components or capacity ready.
Posting the assembly order to activate the pick
To activate the pick, post the order. Choose Post, then confirm when Business Central asks whether you want to post the order by answering Yes.
After posting, the assembly order updates to show the remaining quantity. With two units posted out of ten, the order now shows eight units left to assemble.
