This is what happens in the video
Creating a sales quote in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a straightforward process. You select a customer, add item lines, apply prices and discounts, print or save the quote as a PDF, and convert it into a sales order once the customer accepts.
When you enter a customer number or name, Business Central fills out the customer details automatically. It also applies any special prices and line discounts you have set up for that customer.
You can calculate an invoice discount if the customer’s order reaches the invoice discount limit you have defined.
The printed quote uses the customer’s language code. If the customer is set up with Danish, the quote prints in Danish.
To turn an accepted quote into a sales order, you use the Make Order function. This converts the quote into a sales order, which you can open directly.
Starting a sales quote from the customer details
From the main menu, open the sales quote list and create a new quote. Enter a customer number or customer name, and Business Central automatically fills out the customer details for you.
Adding item lines with quantities and prices
On the item lines, you select the item numbers you want to quote. For example, you can add five pieces of an item, then add another item you have created specifically for that customer.
The price reflects what you have set up. In this example, the price shows as 7,400. When you enter a quantity as high as 115, a line discount or special price applies, because that has been configured for the customer. The price then comes from both the specific price and the line discount.
Calculating invoice discounts
From the action list, you can also calculate an invoice discount, if you have set one up. In this example, the customer has an invoice discount limit of 100,000. When the order reaches that limit, Business Central adds further discount on top.
Printing the quote and language codes
From the action list, you can print the quote to the screen or save it as a PDF. Select print preview to see how the quote will look before sending it.
The print follows the customer’s setup. Because this customer is set up with the language code Danish, the quote prints in Danish.
Converting a quote into a sales order
After you send the quote to the customer and they accept it, you can change it into a sales order. From the process functions, choose Make Order. This converts the quote into a sales order, and you can open the sales order directly from there.
