In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can email a copy of a sales order confirmation directly to your customer. The email pulls the recipient address from the customer card, attaches the confirmation as a PDF, and lets you edit the address, subject line, and message before sending. Before this works, you need to configure your SMTP setup, since email cannot be sent from the system without it.

Sending a sales order confirmation by email in Business Central

When a sales order has been created for your customer, you can send them a copy by email. You do this from the order by choosing Print/Send in the menu and then selecting Email Confirmation.

The email address the confirmation is sent to is taken automatically from the customer card. If you need to send it somewhere else, you can enter a different address. You can also change the subject line.

The sales order confirmation is attached automatically as a PDF file. You can add a short message in the email before sending it. When you press OK, the email is sent.

Configure SMTP before sending email from the system

Before you can send email from Business Central, your SMTP setup needs to be configured. Without this configuration in place, the system cannot send the email.
