In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can cancel an issued reminder directly from the reminder itself. When you cancel an issued reminder, any interest that was automatically posted when the reminder was issued is cancelled as well.

To cancel an issued reminder, open it, go to the Process menu, and choose Cancel. You then decide whether to reuse the same document number or take a number from the number series defined in your sales setup, and whether to keep the original posting date or use a new one.

Cancelling an issued reminder in Business Central

If you have issued a reminder and need to reverse it, you do not have to handle it manually. Business Central lets you cancel an issued reminder directly from the reminder document.

An important detail: if interest was automatically posted when the reminder was issued, that interest is cancelled at the same time. You do not have to track down and reverse the interest posting separately.

How to cancel an issued reminder step by step

Start by opening the issued reminder you want to cancel. Go to the Process menu and choose Cancel.

Business Central then gives you a couple of choices before completing the cancellation:

  • Document number: Decide whether to use the same document number or take the number from the number series defined in your sales setup.
  • Posting date: Decide whether to use the original posting date or enter a new posting date.

Once you have made your selections, press OK. The reminder is then marked as cancelled, and you can confirm this directly on the reminder.
