This is what happens in the video

The customer card in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central gives the finance department direct access to the most important customer actions in one place. From here you can analyse transaction history, set up prices and discounts, issue reminders and finance charge memos, register payments, and run financial reports.

You set up dimensions on the customer to analyse transaction history. You find dimensions under Navigate and Customer on the customer card.

You issue reminders and finance charge memos directly from the customer card under Actions and New Document.

You post cash receipts and register customer payments from the customer card, which opens a journal.

You run the Customer Detailed Aging and Customer Balance to Date reports from the customer card, and you can issue a statement for the customer from the same place.

Finding customer information through Navigate, History, and Statistics

The customer card has a set of action buttons that are particularly useful for the finance department. Under Navigate and Customer, you find the dimension setup for the customer. Dimensions are used to analyse transaction history, so this is where you control how transactions can be grouped and reported on.

Under History, you can find a selection of the ledger entries for the customer. Under Statistics, you get different statistics for the customer. There are also additional statistics available directly from the customer card.

Setting up prices and discounts on the customer card

Under Prices and Discounts, you can set up the agreements that apply to a specific customer. This includes invoice discounts, special prices, and line discounts connected to specific items. This keeps the customer’s commercial terms in one place so they are applied automatically when you create documents.

Viewing documents and issued documents

Under Documents, you can quickly see the documents related to the customer. Under Issued Documents, you find the issued reminders and issued finance charge memos. These are typically issued by the finance department, so this is where you go to check what has already been sent.

Issuing reminders and finance charge memos from the customer card

You do not have to leave the customer card to create new reminders or finance charges. You issue them directly with an action from the card. Go to Actions, then New Document, and select Reminder or Finance Charge Memo.

Registering customer payments and posting cash receipts

From the customer card you can also post cash receipts or register customer payments. Both of these options open a journal where you complete the registration.

Running customer reports and issuing statements

The customer card also gives you access to reports. Two of the most relevant for finance are the Customer Detailed Aging and the Customer Balance to Date. If you want to issue a statement for the customer, you can do that from the customer card as well.
