The mobile warehouse interface in Business Central lets you change your active location code directly from the main mobile screen. This means you can move between warehouses or storage areas without leaving the app or going back into the desktop client.

You normally work within a single location code, which represents a geographical area. By switching location on the fly, you can handle items in a quarantine location, a separate storage location, or a bundled location, each with its own warehouse handling requirements.

To use this functionality, you must be set up as a warehouse employee in Business Central. Without that setup, the location change action will not work.

Changing location directly from the mobile screen

The mobile flow includes an action that lets you change your user location straight from the main screen. You simply click Change User Location and pick a new location code.

In daily shop floor work, you typically operate on one location code at a time. That location code represents a geographical area where you pick, put away, and handle items.

Working with different location types

Sometimes you need to work in a location that is set up for a specific purpose. This could be:

  • A quarantine location where items are held separately
  • A location where you store items apart from the main stock
  • A bundled location

Each of these locations can have its own requirements for warehouse handling. When you switch to one of them, the available actions adjust accordingly, so the interface reflects what you can do in that location.

Warehouse employee setup is required

Before you can change your location or perform warehouse actions from the mobile interface, you need to be configured as a warehouse employee in Business Central. This setup is what makes the location switching and the related actions function.

Once you are set up correctly, you can move from one location to another and continue working under the warehouse handling rules that apply to your new location.
