In Shop Floor Mobile, the Fixed Role Center Logon field controls how often a worker has to identify themselves while using the app. When you enable it, the user logs in once when opening the menu and can then run the entire flow without re-entering a user code or PIN code. When you leave it unchecked, the user must state their user code or PIN code for each function they use.

The field is relevant when a device is shared by several resources rather than tied to one fixed resource. If you enable Fixed Role Center Logon, each user must remember to close the screen when they finish, so the next colleague is forced to log in with their own credentials.

What the Fixed Role Center Logon field does in Shop Floor Mobile

In the Shop Floor Mobile user setup, you will find a field called Fixed Role Center Logon. This field normally only makes sense if you don’t have a fixed resource. For instance, if a device is a shared device user with several resources that can log in to it, the behaviour of this field becomes important.

How logon works when the field is not checkmarked

When the field is not checkmarked and you open Shop Floor Mobile, you have to enter a user code or a PIN code, depending on the setup, before the role center opens.

From there, every function you click requires you to identify yourself again. If you choose to consume a component or register a quantity, you have to state your user code or PIN code before you can continue. The same applies to any other information you want to enter. This is the most secure way to run the app on a shared device, but it means entering the user code repeatedly.

How logon works when the field is checkmarked

If entering the user code every time becomes too much, you can checkmark Fixed Role Center Logon in the mobile flow user setup. As the field tooltip explains, it saves the initial information once you get into the setup.

With the field enabled, you still have to enter a user code or PIN code when you open the menu. But once you are in, you can run the entire flow without entering any information again.

Why you must close the screen when you finish

The trade-off is that the logged-in information stays active until you leave the screen. As a user, you have to log out when you are done. Instead of leaving the screen open under your login, you need to close it again.

If you don’t, the next colleague who uses the functionality continues under your identity. When you close the screen properly, the next person has to state their own user code before they can work.

Q&A

What does the Fixed Role Center Logon field do in Shop Floor Mobile?

It lets a user log in once when opening the menu and then run the entire flow without re-entering a user code or PIN code. Without it, the user has to state their user code or PIN code for every function.

When should you use the Fixed Role Center Logon field?

It is relevant when a device is shared by several resources rather than tied to one fixed resource, and you want to reduce how often each user has to enter their code.

What do you need to remember if you enable Fixed Role Center Logon?

You have to close the screen when you finish. If you leave it open, the next colleague continues under your login instead of entering their own user code.
