The Shop Floor Overview is a page in Business Central that gives production staff a flexible, filtered view of production order lines, capacity load lines, and operation lines. You can place it on a screen in the production area, where each user filters the page to show only the orders and operations relevant to their work. From the same page, you can start and stop time, register time output, and consume items.

You control what the page displays by hiding the parts you do not need. If you hide order lines and capacity, for example, you are left with a clean overview of operation lines. Combined with filtering, this lets a worker see exactly which operations are allocated to their work center and what to start next.

What the Shop Floor Overview shows in Business Central

The Shop Floor Overview gives you an overview of three things in one place: production order lines, capacity load lines, and operation lines. The top section includes a filtering option where you choose which orders and which operations to see. This makes the page flexible enough to suit different roles and work centers.

Setting up the page for the production area

The page is meant to be displayed on a screen in the production area. The user working on the shop floor can add the filters that match their job and hide the parts of the page they do not need.

You can hide the General tab and choose to see only what is relevant. If you hide the order lines and capacity, you get a clean overview of operation lines. With the right filter, that overview shows the operation lines allocated to your work center and tells you what to start next.

Registering work directly from the page

From the Shop Floor Overview, the user can act on the work, not just look at it. You can:

  • Start and stop time
  • Register time output
  • Consume items

This keeps the production reporting in one place, right where the work happens.

Why the flexibility matters on the shop floor

Because each user filters and hides parts of the page independently, everyone sees exactly what they need to process their part of the manufacturing. The same page works for an operator focused on one work center and for someone who needs the full picture of order lines and capacity load.
