If you use the Mobile Flow app in Business Central, you can update the standard flows the same way you installed them in the first place. You do this with the Import Flow Data function in the Mobile Flow setup, which pulls the latest standard flows from the cloud.

You can filter the import on a specific flow code, or import all flows at once. When you import everything, you get the most recent updates to the standard flows directly in your system.

Many of the standard flows are locked. If you want to build your own version, copy the flow first. That way you keep your customisations intact and we can still update the standard flows without overwriting your work.

Updating Mobile Flows in Business Central

From time to time we change the setup of a flow to make it better or more agile. When that happens, you don’t need to reinstall anything. You can update the flow using the same mechanism that ran when you first installed the app.

Go into the Mobile Flow setup, which is the back end of the app. In there you’ll find a function called Import Flow Data. This is where you bring in the latest flows.

Importing standard flows from the cloud

When you run the import, you have two options. You can filter on a specific flow code and import only that one, or you can import everything in one go.

If you choose to import everything, the function pulls all the standard flows from the cloud, where we maintain the current versions. The result is that your system gets the latest updates to the standard flows directly.

Why standard flows are locked and how to customise safely

We’ve deliberately locked many of the flows we define. The reason is practical: locking the standard flows means we can keep updating them without breaking anything you’ve changed.

If you want to create your own flows, make a copy of the standard flow and work from that. This keeps your own flows separate, so you can update them freely while we continue to update the standard flows on our side.

Q&A

How do you update Mobile Flows in Business Central?

Go to the Mobile Flow setup in the back end and use the Import Flow Data function. This is the same process that runs when you first install the app.

Can you import a single flow instead of all of them?

Yes. You can filter the import on a specific flow code to bring in just that flow, or you can import everything at once to get all the standard flows.

Where do the standard flow updates come from?

From the cloud. We maintain the current versions of all standard flows there, so importing everything gives you the latest updates directly in your system.

Why are some flows locked?

The standard flows are locked so we can update them without overwriting your changes. If you want your own version, copy the flow first and customise the copy.
