If you are responsible for setting up the Shop Floor Mobile solution in Business Central, switch your role center to Mobile Flow Administrator under My Settings. This role center guides you through every setup step in one place. From here you manage mobile flows, set up users as resources, assign permission groups, configure time collectors, and organise mobile flow groups. Most of the setup comes predefined out of the box when you install the apps, so you only need to adjust the parts that match how your shop floor works.

The Mobile Flow Administrator role center is an administration page, not an end user page. The end users never see it. You use it only while configuring the solution.

Switch to the Mobile Flow Administrator role center

If you are the person in charge of setting up Shop Floor Mobile, change your role center in My Settings to Mobile Flow Administrator. In that role center you are guided through all the different setup tasks you need to do. The page itself is not built to impress, because it is meant for administrators rather than end users.

Mobile flows are predefined out of the box

From the role center you have access to all the mobile flows. This is normally a list you would not go into, because it comes predefined out of the box with all the different flows. If you know the setup in detail, you can go in here and change the individual flows. For most installations there is no need to touch this.

Set up users as resources

All users need to be set up as resources in the system. You do this in the Mobile Flow Resource Setup user list. Here you add the mobile flow users, assign their permission groups, and define which location code they work on.

There is also a separate User Setup list. This is where you connect the Windows user to the resource you defined. One Windows user can have a resource number, and you set up that link here.

Configure permission groups and time collectors

Permission groups control which mobile flow users have access to which permissions. You define them from the role center so each user only sees what they should.

If you use start and stop on time collectors, you set that up under Time Collector Setup. This is explained in more detail in other videos.

Updating mobile flows and mobile flow groups

The Updates function is only relevant if you want to import an updated file with different mobile flows. Normally the flows come out of the box when you install the apps, so you do not need this for a standard installation.

Finally, the Mobile Flow Groups area shows which flows work together in which menus. This lets you see how the flows are organised for the end users.

Q&A

How do I get started setting up Shop Floor Mobile?

Change your role center in My Settings to Mobile Flow Administrator. This role center guides you through all the setup tasks you need to complete.

Do I need to set up the mobile flows myself?

No. The mobile flows come predefined out of the box when you install the apps. You only go into the mobile flows list if you know the setup in detail and want to change individual flows.

How do I add users to Shop Floor Mobile?

Set up each user as a resource in the Mobile Flow Resource Setup user list. Here you assign permission groups and define which location code each user works on. You also link the Windows user to the resource number in the User Setup list.

What do permission groups control?

Permission groups determine which mobile flow users have access to which permissions, so each user only sees what they should.

When do I need to use the Updates function?

Only if you want to import an updated file with different mobile flows. For a standard installation the flows already come out of the box, so you do not need it.
