The shop floor setup in your manufacturing solution defines how every mobile flow behaves when you post or consume materials, change a status, or register time directly from the shop floor overview. If you want to change how these actions work, or use a copied flow instead of the standard one, you make those adjustments in the shop floor setup.

How the shop floor setup controls mobile flows

When you use the functions to post, consume, change status, or register time directly from the shop floor overview, that behaviour is handled in the shop floor setup. The setup holds a definition for all of these flows. This is why you select the flow directly from your list of mobile flows.

If you make a copy of a flow and want to use the new copy instead of the original, you have to set it up here. The shop floor setup is where you point to the flow you want to run.

Settings you can define in the shop floor setup

The shop floor setup gives you several options to control how time and other values are handled:

  • Cycle time unit of measure if you are using the second time functionality.
  • Fixed filters, which let you limit what is shown or processed in a flow.
  • Manual changes to run time, so you can decide whether run time can be edited by hand.
  • Manual changes to timestamps, if you use the timestamp functionality and want to allow users to adjust the values themselves.

These settings let you tailor each flow to the way your shop floor actually works, rather than being locked to a single standard behaviour.

Q&A

Where do I configure how mobile flows post, consume, or register time on the shop floor?

You configure this in the shop floor setup. It contains a definition for all the flows used when you post, consume, change status, or register time from the shop floor overview.

How do I use a copied flow instead of the standard one?

Make a copy of the flow, then go into the shop floor setup and select the new flow from your list of mobile flows. The flow you point to in the setup is the one that runs.

Can I allow run time to be changed manually on the shop floor?

Yes. The shop floor setup lets you define whether run time can be changed manually.

What can I control with the timestamp functionality?

If you use the timestamp functionality, you can decide in the shop floor setup whether users are allowed to change the timestamps manually.
