The shop floor mobile flow handles login through a combination of the Windows user and a resource. How you set this up determines whether the system prompts each user to identify themselves, or logs them in automatically. This gives you flexibility to support both shared production screens and individual workstations.

You can link a Windows user directly to a resource with a fixed link. When you do this, the flow logs you in automatically and never prompts you for a resource code or PIN.

If you do not use a fixed resource, the flow prompts you every time you open a tile. This is the right choice for a shared screen in the production area, where different people register their own work using a PIN code or ID.

You configure journals, location codes, and other settings per resource, not per computer. This means several people can use the same computer while still being set up with different location codes and different journals.

How login works in the shop floor mobile flow

Login in the shop floor mobile flow is built on two things working together: the Windows user and a resource. The combination of those two controls the setup per user and the way you log into the system.

When you open the mobile flow shop floor, the system prompts you for your resource code by default. You can enter a resource code, or you can log in with a PIN code if you are set up with one. The PIN code is a secret, of course, so it keeps the registration tied to the right person.

Linking a Windows user to a fixed resource

In the mobile flow user setup you can link your Windows user to a resource with a fixed link. Once that link is in place, the flow logs you in as yourself automatically. It will not prompt you when you run the flow, and it will not prompt you when you enter the runtime.

This setup works well for an individual workstation where the same person always uses the same machine.

Using prompts for shared production screens

If you are not using a fixed resource, the flow prompts you every time you open a tile. You can control this in the user setup by deselecting the fixed resource option.

With prompting turned on, the flow asks for your user code when you open the overview on the tablet. You might have a plastic card with a PIN code that you can scan, or you enter it manually. The flow also prompts you when you register runtime. Every time you log into something, you start by entering your ID before moving on, including when you consume quantity.

The reason for this behaviour is the shared screen scenario. You might have a common screen in the production area where everybody can go over and do a registration. The system asks for their PIN code or user ID so the registration is done for that specific person.

Configuring settings per resource

The mobile flow user setup also lets you configure all the specific settings for each resource. In the list you have a resource setup where this is done.

The setup for journals and everything else is done per resource rather than per computer. Several people can use the same computer while still being set up with different location codes, different journals, and so on. The settings follow the resource, not the machine.

Q&A

How do you make the shop floor mobile flow log a user in automatically?

Link the Windows user to a resource with a fixed link in the mobile flow user setup. The flow then logs that user in automatically and does not prompt for a resource code or PIN when running the flow or entering the runtime.

How do you set up a shared production screen so different people can register their own work?

Do not use a fixed resource. Deselect the fixed resource option in the user setup. The flow then prompts for a user code or PIN every time someone opens a tile or registers runtime, so each person identifies themselves with their PIN code or ID.

Can several people use the same computer with different settings?

Yes. The setup for journals, location codes, and other settings is done per resource, not per computer. Several people can share the same computer while each being set up with different location codes and journals.

When does the shop floor mobile flow prompt for a PIN code?

When you are not using a fixed resource, the flow prompts you when you open the overview on the tablet and every time you register runtime or consume quantity. You can enter the PIN manually or scan a plastic card with the PIN code.
