If you work with warehouse receipts in Business Central using a pull strategy, you can import several source documents into a single warehouse receipt in one operation. You create the warehouse receipt manually and use the Get Source Documents function to pull in the lines you need. You can combine different source document types and different source document numbers in the same receipt. Select the documents you want, confirm, and they all land in the same warehouse receipt.

Creating a warehouse receipt with a pull strategy

There are two ways to get source documents into a warehouse receipt. With a pull strategy, you create the warehouse receipt first and then pull the source documents into it. This means you start from the warehouse receipt itself rather than pushing documents out to the warehouse.

When you create the warehouse receipt manually, you run the Get Source Documents process from within the receipt. This opens a list of the source documents available for import.

Importing multiple source documents in one go

The useful part is that you are not limited to a single document. You can select all the source documents you want to import at once and bring them into the same warehouse receipt.

You can also import across different source document types and different source document numbers in the same operation. So a single warehouse receipt can collect lines from several documents that differ in both type and number.

Once you have selected the documents you need and press OK, they are all imported into the same warehouse receipt. That is how the pull approach lets you consolidate multiple requests into one receipt.
